The experience of studying at INCAE is something that goes beyond its classrooms, it is breathed in every corner of the campus, in the interaction with peers from other programs and in being in a place that not only teaches about sustainability, but also lives it. This is why INCAE has inaugurated this April 22 its new executive residence building, a place where participants of the executive education programs can live on campus and thus take advantage of every moment of the characteristic Incaísta experience.
Before members of the Board of Directors and National Committee of INCAE, donors, professors, collaborators and students, the Mayor of Alajuela, Roberto Thompson; the Rector of INCAE, Enrique Bolaños; the Co-Chair of the Advisory Council to the Rector and leader of the building donation project, Stanley Motta; and the architect of the project, Bruno Stagno; symbolically cut the canvas to welcome this new facility that began construction in May 2015.
"This new building reflects both the success we have had in designing and offering high quality executive programs, as well as the commitment to excellence we have as an institution," explains Rector Enrique Bolaños.
The 1,740-square-meter building has 48 rooms, four of which are designed for people with disabilities, and eight study rooms. The building has world-class technology and design, takes advantage of natural lighting, avoids direct sunlight and thus reduces the use of air conditioning. It also has energy-efficient sanitary ware and faucets, energy-efficient lighting, solar water heaters, and an intelligent lock that shuts off all energy consumption in the room when leaving it.
"The idea was that it would be more than a lodging building, that it would be a space for participants to meet and be in a cool place with a bioclimatic design, but maintaining the characteristic exterior style of the campus of INCAE in Costa Rica," says Bruno Stagno, Architect in charge of this great project.
INCAE took the opportunity to thank the donors of this new building: Stanley Motta, Harry Strachan, Julio Herrera, Fernando Paiz, Ricardo Poma, Ricardo Sagrera, Jorge Vallarino, Rodrigo Uribe, Francis Durman, Anamae Motta de Patton, Maria Antonia Motta and Roberto Motta Jr.
"INCAE continues to deliver value," explains Stanley Motta, who has led the project's fundraising effort because of the importance of being on campus. "I think people who are taking an executive program like the idea of being on campus and being with other students, being in the environment of the institution." Stanley Motta further went on to stress that it is important for the institution to continue to find more donors to help write the next chapter in the history of INCAE.
