We proudly share that Incaístas visiting Professor Dr. Gabriel Silva, from the Specialization in Business Analytics for Decision Making program and his colleague Dr. Mauricio Umaña, were awarded the National Award for Scientific Research 2024 in El Salvador. This prestigious recognition was awarded during the Science and Technology Week 2024, organized by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) from October 21 to 25 at the facilities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in San Salvador.
The Science and Technology Week brought together students from elementary, middle and higher education, as well as teachers, researchers and authorities, all committed to the advancement of science and technology in the country. The main objective of this event was to recognize and reward outstanding contributions in these fields, highlighting achievements that promote knowledge and innovation.

Out of approximately 800 articles submitted, the paper entitled Strategic Policies for Collaboration and Competitiveness, co-authored by Dr. Gabriel Silva and Dr. Mauricio Umaña, both graduates of INCAE Business School, was awarded first place. This article, carried out in collaboration with an outstanding research group, analyzes strategies to foster collaboration and improve competitiveness, critical issues for sustainable development in the region.
The award ceremony was the central moment of the day, highlighting the quality of the contributions made by researchers from higher education institutions and research centers. The award-winning projects reflected the commitment and talent of Salvadoran academics in key areas for scientific and technological progress.
"The achievement of this award demonstrates the commitment, dedication and excellence in the search for business solutions to break the paradigm of how organizations are competing towards the industrial revolution 5.0. Today, organizations must be disruptive in a globalized world and in our region it is vital in this context. Therefore, this award only allows us to encourage organizations to think differently and incentivize new researchers to contribute solutions to solve real problems that go beyond the classroom." Dr. Silva indicated.
We congratulate Dr. Silva, Dr. Umaña and their research team for this well-deserved recognition and for their contribution to the development of collaborative knowledge and competitiveness. Their success inspires our academic community and reaffirms our commitment to continue promoting excellence in education and research.
