  • 72 women entrepreneurs presented their acceleration projects at the Walter Kissling Gam Campus of INCAE in Costa Rica during September and November 2023.
  • Currently, they are receiving individualized mentoring to implement their projects and have begun the next phases of the program: To Financing and To Market.

Guatemalan entrepreneurs from the Empresarias Progresando (EMPRO) program completed the first stage of the "LEADS Academy for Women" program this year. During this phase, the entrepreneurs spent a week at the Walter Kissling Gam Campus at INCAE to receive training in communication skills and present their acceleration projects.

EMPRO is carried out by the Center for Inclusive and Sustainable Leadership (CELIS) with the support of the Aspen Network of Entrepreneurs for Development (ANDE), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and in alliance with the companies: Cargill, Mastercard and PriceSmart Foundation.

Both the September and November groups presented their acceleration projects before a specialized jury, who were responsible for evaluating them and selecting outstanding projects to receive awards from INCAE Business School and our allies in Guatemala: RexCargo and Bufete Aguilar Castillo Love.

The outstanding projects in group 1 were:

  • Ana Mariela Mejia Arias, Food Industry of the house
  • Alisa de León, Alisa Handmade
  • Delmy Consuelo Gómez García, Mixku'.
  • María José Morales Vargas, Dear Art

The outstanding projects in group 2 were:

  • Daniela Saravia- Healthy Company S.A.
  • Zully Campos - Zu Smart Furniture
  • Luisa Fernanda Arias - La Dulce Abuelita Bread and Cakes
  • Adela Bermudez - Alimentos Don Mundy
  • Claudia Perez - Las Cumbres

EMPRO will continue in 2024

During the next year, the entrepreneurs will begin the phases of the program To Financing and To the Market. In which they will expand their knowledge of the financial environment in Guatemala and generate new business opportunities with access to new markets.
