On June 14, the Positive Impact Rating (PIR) released its ranking for business schools, where INCAE Business School is included in level 4 as a Transforming School, a position it has held for the fourth consecutive year, and which proves our institution's purpose of transforming lives in Latin America for a better future. This rating is very relevant for business schools, as it is applied and qualified by their own students.
The PIR is organized as a Swiss non-profit association and was created by business school experts together with global NGOs such as WWF, Oxfam and UN global Compact, as well as international student associations. It aims to change the focus so that business schools are not only measured as "the best in the world" but also as "the best for the world".
In this new edition of the PIR, INCAE ratified its placement within level 4, one of the highest levels of the rating, in which it was placed in previous years by its students. Being placed in this level implies that the school shows a positive culture, governance and impact systems, with visible results in many dimensions of impact. Only two Latin American schools are on this list.
Beyond traditional rankings, which pit business schools from around the world against each other in a highly differentiated ranking, PIR positions schools according to their overall scores in five tiers: Beginning, Emerging, Progressing, Transforming and Pioneering. These refer to the stage of development the business school is in, rating it by a certain level of achievement in positive impact on society.
The PIR also serves as a tool for the measurement and continuous improvement of social impact. This second purpose is of growing interest to most of the participating business schools, as it allows them to meet new requirements related to stakeholder impact.
In this fourth edition of the PIR, 71 business schools participated, bringing together the voices of 12,000 students from 25 countries located in the 5 continents, with a 50% increase in participation compared to the previous year. These schools were evaluated by their students on their ability to make a positive impact on the world.
The purpose is to measure how business schools contribute to solving societal challenges by energizing their culture, educating responsible leaders, providing relevant research results and offerings that promote continuing education, engaging in public debate, and establishing themselves as model institutions.
The survey asked students 20 questions across seven dimensions of impact (governance, culture, programs, teaching methods, student support, the institution as a role model, and public engagement) that fall into three areas: energizing, educational, and participatory.

The report on this year's rating results includes a section on best practices at the highest levels, 4 and 5.
INCAE The school stands out as an institution that not only values its students as the most important stakeholder group, but also takes care to listen to them. And placing at level 4 as a Transformational School means that it has a culture of positive impact, embedded in governance and systems, with visible results and progress in many dimensions of impact.
With the support of the IRP, INCAE has advanced the effort to include students in the debate on sustainability strategies through these initiatives:
Undoubtedly, it represents a great achievement that INCAE continues to be considered by its own students as a business school committed to the future and, particularly, to transforming lives for a better future for the region.
